POINTS OF INTEREST:

– Paid expert Pare Corporation provided an environmental assessment of the Wickford Middle School property concluding that the land has numerous known and speculative issues. Including Formaldehyde, Arsenic, Lead, Asbestos, Oil, and that the property may have been a land fill. These contaminates would present a costly issue if proven to be present when the soil is disturbed for construction of a new middle school. The committee decided to sample dig areas for testing. – Committee members discussed school bond deadlines for inclusion on the Nov ballot. (Video Mark 01:02:00)

– It was noted that the School Committee approved architect funding to cost 4 options including rehabbing vs new Wickford and Davisville middle schools. A suggested fifth option included demolishing Wickford Middle school and building a new middle school on the existing Wickford Middle school footprint. (Video Mark 1:08:50)
